If you’re looking to add a different vibe to your event but want a bit more than someone who just sits behind a laptop, then Soul Sauce is what you’re looking for; A bespoke service where everything happens right in front of you. No computers, MP3s or hidden technology, just a pair of turntables and some of the finest records from the last 60 years.

The Soul Sauce Sound

Booking Soul Sauce will bring a unique variety of music to your event. Expect a solid mix of top-notch classic hits from the likes of Motown, Stax and Atlantic, complimented by equally thrilling underplayed and more obscure tracks, with many still unavailable on download or CD.

I regularly travel the length and breadth of the country looking for new sounds to add to my sets. Before a gig, an hour or three will be spent hand-picking the records from my 4000-strong and counting collection of original 45s (no reissues here!), so that each and every gig sounds that little bit different. 4000 records might seem like a lot to most people, but unfortunately (or fortunately, it depends how big your record room is…) my musical tastes are extremely varied! This makes it a challenge not to amass a large collection of different styles of music from all over the world by default, and it’s this variety that I like to bring to my DJ sets.

I have no qualms about playing a brass-laden, high energy ‘60s Latin Boogaloo record straight after a funky, low-down RnB number, and then ripping it up again with a raucous Ska version of From Russia With Love! There is of course always a good serving of some well-known and lesser-known records from the two stables of greatness: Stax and Motown – no night can be complete without their presence, alongside plenty of records from some fantastic current labels such as Daptone, Freestyle and Goldmine.

It’s your event so you choose the genres, and leave the rest to us…. Soul Sauce sets aren’t just limited to soul music either; we can mix it up even more and add sets of 50s Rock ‘n’ Roll, 60s Pop, Psychedelic, Beat and Rock.

With over 15 years’ experience behind the decks, Soul Sauce keeps the groove flowing and the dance floor filled, only selecting records to compliment the vibe of your evening, creating a unique soundtrack to your night.
